Mirabai, also known as Sant Meerabai, a 16th-century Hindu mystic poet and Krishna devotee, is revered as a Bhakti saint, especially in North Indian Hinduism. Born in Rajasthan’s Rathore Rajput lineage in Kudki, she defied norms, passionately honoring Krishna as her husband, facing in-law persecution.

Although countless devotional hymns praise Krishna, scholars authenticate only a fraction, transcribed mainly in the 18th century. Mirabai’s legend persists through temples like Chittorgarh fort, influencing modern media. Her life’s contested tales inspire movies, comics, and literature, highlighting her enduring impact.
Amidst the transition of power to Vikram Singh after Rana Sanga’s demise, Mirabai’s life weaves tales of survival. Her in-laws’ attempts on her life, like offering poison as nectar and a snake instead of flowers, failed as she emerged unscathed. The snake transformed into Krishna or flowers, per hagiographic narratives. Another legend tells of her floating on water after being asked to drown. Scholars question stories involving historical figures like Akbar and Guru Ravidas.
